In late September 1849, Edgar Allan Poe was traveling to New York from Richmond, Virginia. Poe never made it - he was discovered raving and incoherent on a Baltimore street. For three days he lay delirious in a hospital where he died on October 7th. To this day, the circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery.
Award-winning filmmaker Mark Redfield mixes the events of the author's last days with imagery from his stories to create a dreamlike chronicle of Poe's final journey into madness and fear. Included in this special edition are two rare early films based on Poe's work: The Avenging Conscience (1914), an adaptation of Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart," and The Raven (1915), featuring new music scores by Jennifer Rouse.
